In BBC Future October 25 2012, Caleb Scharf, the Director of the Astrobiology Center at Columbia University, says: "We should all learn basic astronomy training compulsory"
I say: Amen!
Except that the proposal should be positive, not police-state like "compulsory with annual audit" however small.
What about something like this "Astronomy should be included as a compulsory subject to all elementary school curricula in every country of the world"
and then to go on to produce educational materials about Astronomy that school children all over the world would love to study - regardless of religion or lack of it!
